After only five weeks spent perfecting the brewing process, he brought samples of and a mock-up label to a meeting with the company that is now Whole Foods Market, hoping that they would place a small order. Goldman started out brewing the tea in his kitchen and storing it in thermoses. GotVMail, now Grasshopper, generates about $5 million in revenue per year. The idea for GotVMail was to give smaller companies a way to sound as professional as larger, established firms, allowing small businesses to set up voice-mail boxes that can route calls to cell phones and get messages via e-mailed MP3 files. They got their startup money the hard way, by asking friends and family to help fund their business. Hauser and Taghaddos came up with a great idea for an inexpensive VoIP phone system for small businesses. Twenty years later, the company was taking in $237 million in annual revenue. With $8,000 in savings and a $4,000 loan, they leased an old gas station in Burlington, purchased equipment, and began coming up with ideas for “unique” flavors. They discovered that just about the only college town without an ice cream shop was Burlington, Vermont. The now-legendary duo decided to open a business after taking a correspondence course on the art of ice cream making. In 12 years, Tastefully Simple has grown into a $120 million dollar business. She had the idea to sell at taste-testing parties, and sales began slowly picking up. But then I thought, No, this is your dream. In her own words: “I remember sitting outside one day, thinking we were three months behind on our house payment, I had two employees I couldn’t pay, and I ought to get a real job. She trained additional instructors to teach the routines she choreographed, which eventually lead to a franchise deal. Sheppard Missett picked up the pace, turned up the music, and created a fun class that was soon packed. The women weren’t coming to class to learn the precise steps to a dance, but to lose weight and tone up. When turnout dropped, she had an epiphany. The founder of this wildly successful fitness company started teaching dance classes after hanging up her professional dancing shoes. 10/31/2023 0 Comments Ring keypad door lockIt doesn't work with Kwikset SmartKey, though, so rekeying requires a trip to the locksmith unless you want to try to rekey the old-fashioned way. It also has an adjustable auto-lock feature that will lock the door if you forget. This lock has a physical key in addition to a 10-digit numerical keypad that includes a dedicated button for one-touch locking. It can hold up to six customizable codes, including temporary codes that expire after a single use. You also program this lock through the keypad, so there’s no need to take it apart to change the code. Installation is easy because it directly replaces your deadbolt without additional drilling on most doors. The Kwikset 264 is a basic keypad deadbolt that looks nice and works well, so it’s an excellent option for anyone who wants the convenience of keyless entry but doesn’t need a lot of extra features. If you prefer something with simpler lines, the Schlage Keypad Lever with Plymouth Trim and Flair Lever with Flex Lock is the exact same lock with a less ornate trim style.ĭimensions: 6.84 x 3 x 6.85 inches | Access Methods: Keypad, key | Power Source: 9 volt battery | Security Grade: ANSI Grade 2 | Smart Features: No The Schlage Camelot has an attractive chunky design that’s available in a number of finishes, and it also has different lever and knob options. It also has a backlit keypad, the ability to lock automatically, and a physical backup lock, so it’s more than a basic keypad lock. If you’re going to be away for a while, the vacation feature lets you disable the keypad. The most important is Flex-Lock, which lets you activate passage mode to keep the door unlocked when necessary or switch to automatic relocking for greater security. While it isn’t a smart lock, and there’s no app and no smart home integration, it does have some noteworthy features. It's worth noting that there’s no way to create codes that expire automatically, but you can remove individual codes at any time. When you want to program new entry codes, it’s capable of holding up to 19 at a time. An included 9-volt battery provides power, and the lock comes pre-programmed with two unique codes, so it’s ready to go right away. Either way, installation is easy and doesn’t require any special tools or wiring. If there’s enough clearance above your doorknob, you can also use it with your deadbolt or a low-profile smart deadbolt. This lock replaces your doorknob, so it’s best for doors that don’t have a deadbolt. Here's how it breaks down: Grade 1 locks are rated to provide the highest level of security, Grade 2 provides intermediate security, and Grade 3 provides basic security. These numbers are based on their performance on various tests administered by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). It turns out that all quality locks are awarded an ANSI Grade of 1, 2, or 3. We considered basic locks, Bluetooth options, and smart locks, evaluating each product's ease of installation, feature sets, and security ratings provided by organizations like the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA). In our search for the best keyless entry systems, we sought recommendations and advice from a variety of experts. "Many of the touchpad options also typically can hold between 15-25 different codes, allowing users to have separate codes for their immediate family, dog walker, babysitters, close friends, etc.” “These systems also tend to be family-friendly, eliminating a busy parent’s worry of keeping track of keys or having to entrust younger children or teenagers to keep ahold of a physical key,” says Garrett Lovejoy, VP of product management for Yale US Smart Residential. Keyless locks range from simple push-button keypads to smart locks that let you control everything from the touch of your phone, offering a range of versatile solutions for any door. Plus, installation is typically pretty easy if you’ve ever installed a deadbolt or a doorknob. In today's world, keyless entry systems offer high-tech convenience and peace of mind. The stock was successfully traded on the New York Stock Exchange for some time, but through a series of trades in the early 1920s, Saunders lost control of Piggly Wiggly® and had no further association with the company.ĭespite Saunders’ departure, Piggly Wiggly Corporation continued to prosper as a franchiser for hundreds of independently owned grocery stores operating under the Piggly Wiggly® name. Piggly Wiggly Corporation became the owner of all Piggly Wiggly® properties - the name, the patents, etc., and Saunders began issuing company stock soon after. Piggly Wiggly Corporation, which Saunders established when he opened his first store in Memphis, secured the self-service format and issued franchises to hundreds of grocery retailers to operate their own Piggly Wiggly® stores. There were shopping baskets, open shelves, and no clerks to shop for the customer – all of which were previously unheard of! Operating under the unusual name ‘Piggly Wiggly®’, it was unlike any other contemporary grocery store. Saunders, a dynamic and innovative man, noticed that this method resulted in wasted time and expense, so he came up with an unheard-of solution that would revolutionize the entire grocery industry: he developed a way for shoppers to serve themselves.ĭespite predictions that his novel idea would fail, Saunders’ first store opened on Septemat 79 Jefferson Street in Memphis. In grocery stores of that time, shoppers presented their orders to clerks who then gathered the goods from the store shelves. Piggly Wiggly®, America's first true self-service grocery store, was founded in Memphis, Tennessee in 1916 by Clarence Saunders.
10/31/2023 0 Comments Linens for round tablesThe best is to take the products out of the dryer while they are still damp. However, you should be very careful with that, since it may cause shrinking. Stonewashed linen products may be dried in tumble dryers. Linen doesn’t like over drying, it makes its fibers more brittle and prone to damage. During drying the fabric gains its natural aerate texture. If it’s possible dry your linens outside. DRYINGĪfter taking out the laundry, products should be flicked and hanged while they are still damp. Such liquids coat the fibers and decrease the absorbing proprieties of linen. We don’t recommend using liquid fabric softeners which are created for synthetic fabrics, not for the natural ones. Strong detergents or bleach weaken linen fibers and may discolor the fabric. Linen products become softer and softer with every washing. Do not wring or twist linen – this could cause the fabric to lose its original shape. It is important that the garments are not packed too tightly so they can move easily in the drum. Linen may be hand washed, or washed in a washing machine using a delicate wash cycle. When you wash your bed linens, remember to turn them inside out and to fasten their buttons. We advise to wash linen separately (without other fabrics) and to segregate colors (don’t mix white with colors). There are so many reasons to take proper care of it and enjoy it for years!
